Airservices Australia is looking for an Engineering Specialist to support the delivery, sustainment, and continuous improvement of critical aerodrome technology systems that underpin Australia’s aviation network.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on the Advanced Digital Tower System at Western Sydney International Airport (WSIA), contributing to the performance, safety, and reliability of nationally significant aviation infrastructure.

The Role & The Team
As part of the Tower Technology Services team within the Chief Technology Enablement Office (CTEO), you’ll provide hands‑on engineering support across the full system lifecycle. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, operational stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide engineering support across design, development, integration, testing, installation, and verification activities
- Participate in engineering reviews and support system acceptance processes
- Conduct system testing, validation, and operational readiness activities
- Support site deployment, installation, set‑to‑work, and verification activities
- Identify and escalate technical risks and issues
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation and artefacts
- Analyse system performance data and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers
- Contribute to a strong safety culture and compliance with WHS and system safety requirements

The Person
You’re an engineer who enjoys working on complex, software‑intensive systems and contributing to safety‑critical environments. You’re proactive, detail‑focused, and comfortable working with guidance while building your technical depth and capability.
Essential requirements:
- Degree in Engineering or Information Technology (or equivalent)
- Experience applying systems engineering practices across the system development lifecycle
- Experience in the design, development, testing, and implementation of software‑based systems
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
- Experience working with stakeholders and vendors
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance
Desirable experience:
- Exposure to Digital Tower Solutions or Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems
- Experience with real‑time or distributed systems and N‑tier architectures
- Awareness of aviation or safety‑critical standards (e.g. ISM, DO‑278A)
- Eligibility for professional engineering registration (e.g. RPEQ)
