The Role & The Team
Reporting to the NOMC Line Leader, the National Capacity Coordinator (NCC) plays a critical role in managing national airspace capacity. You will be responsible for both pre-tactical planning and tactical response to events impacting airspace and aerodrome capacity, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimise national network performance.
This role operates within a 24/7 environment and requires strong operational judgement, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a safety-critical setting.
Staff enjoy working in the NCC because no two days are the same. Our workplace is very diverse with staff coming from a wide variety of backgrounds. One to three months of on-the-job-training on any new function ensures our staff feel equipped to deliver our services. The flexibility in balancing work/life that comes with doing shift work is another great motivator for our staff.
In this role, you will:
- Coordinate the strategic, pre-tactical and tactical management of national airspace and aerodrome capacity
- Develop and maintain daily optimised national network performance plans
- Manage acceptance rates, Ground Delay Programs, and Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) processes
- Coordinate airspace requests, aerodrome and instrument approach training bookings
- Manage and adjust capacity in response to unplanned events, works programs, and network disruptions
- Work closely with Air Traffic Control, aviation meteorologists, NAMO, and other stakeholders
- Contribute to post-operational analysis and performance reporting
- Demonstrate strong safety leadership and compliance with Work Health and Safety requirements
You will be offered full training with a starting salary of $93,212 + 14 % Super progressing to Journeyman salary of $105,854 + 14% Super, and once fully qualified $118,706 + 14 % Super. Training and certification are expected to be completed within approximately 6-months.

The Person
The successful candidate will be an experienced operational professional with strong judgement and decision‑making capability, able to operate confidently in a safety‑critical, fast‑paced, and complex environment. They will excel at stakeholder engagement, demonstrate sound operational awareness, and contribute to optimising national airspace capacity through effective planning, coordination, and collaboration.
The successful candidate will have:
- Demonstrated experience in an operational decision‑making role within a safety‑critical transport environment
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
- High‑level interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to adapt to changing operational conditions and make timely, well‑considered decisions
- Experience using specialist systems, tools, and technology to support operational outcomes
- A strong commitment to safety, compliance, and Airservices’ values and behaviours
- Availability to work within a 24/7 operational environment
