As an Aviation Rescue Fire Fighter Recruit you will receive comprehensive training from our Registered Training Organisation (RTO 5168) based in Melbourne. Upon successful completion of training, a nationally recognised qualification will be awarded in the form of a PUA20622 Certificate II in Public Safety (Fire Fighting and Emergency Operations). Training is delivered via a combination of classroom based and practical training, you will be required to reside in Melbourne for 15 weeks and provided with accommodation. Once you have successfully completed the training course you will relocate to your confirmed location.

Physical testing is one of the most challenging aspects of the recruitment process and ensures candidates can safely meet the demands of the role. We have included a copy of the current Physical Aptitude Test to assist with your preparation.

 

About you

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for candidates from diverse backgrounds, who are interested in joining a highly trained workforce. 

As an Aviation Rescue Fire Fighter, you would be using specialist rescue and firefighting equipment, constantly maintaining your fitness for duty and thrive on working as part of a team.

Firefighting experience is not required; however, an advanced level of physical fitness is essential.

Minimum requirements to apply

To become an Aviation Rescue Fire Fighter, you must meet the following requirements:

  • 18 years of age or above
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen, or an Australian Permanent Resident.
  • Have a current unrestricted full manual driver’s licence and the ability to gain a heavy rigid license at least four weeks prior to commencement
  • Hold either a year 10 or Year 12 Certificate plus a minimum of two years full time equivalent experience (can be combination of paid work, volunteer work, professional or elite sports experience or representation) * or Bachelors/Masters
