The Role & The Team
As a Senior Safety Risk & Assurance Specialist, you will play a key part in enabling leaders and team members across Airservices to effectively manage operational safety risks and meet compliance obligations in a safety-critical environment. You’ll contribute to the Safety Risk & Assurance teams’ program of work by leading assurance activities to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of key risk controls, along with compliance with internal and external requirements. You will also identify opportunities for improvement and drive initiatives that enhance safety outcomes. Your influence will extend across business functions, helping to coordinate Safety initiatives that foster a proactive safety culture.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with the ability to guide and influence stakeholders at all levels. You’ll bring strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external partners, combined with well-developed negotiation and interpersonal skills to deliver meaningful safety improvements across the organisation.

There are two roles available, one permanent full-time position and one full time 12-month fixed term position.

Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will ideally possess:
- Significant practical experience in safety risk management within a safety regulated industry (e.g. Aviation, Rail, Oil and Gas, Defence).
- Tertiary qualification in safety risk management, engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Well developed knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) combined with experience in the practical application of an SMS
- Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating work, monitoring performance against deadlines and milestones.
- Demonstrated ability to use technology to analyse numerical data, verbal data and other sources of information to propose workable solutions to a range of problems.
- Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience in an Air Traffic Control environment or as a pilot would be advantageous.
