The Role & The Team:

The Environmental Advisor will support the on-ground environmental work plan and implementation of the heritage strategy across the value chain for on-ground operations. You will provide advice and support to on-ground operations and on-ground change (projects) regarding Environmental System Management (EMS) requirements to ensure appropriate risk management and compliance with obligations. This will include subject matter expertise relating to the management of environmental issues and occurrences (incidents).

The Environmental Advisor will provide technical input on environmental matters to reduce our pollution risk and ensure conformance with EMS requirements. You will be responsible to develop, maintain and ensure effective implementation of site based environmental and heritage management plans.

You will form an integral part of the Environmental Operations team and be required to collaborate with other team members to deliver on our overall strategic objectives and ensure continuous improvement.

The Person:

We are looking for a person who has sound communication and environmental advisory skills with robust subject matter experience within the environmental and heritage areas. This is a great opportunity for an Environmental Advisor to gain further experience or seeking an industry change.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Law (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of the EMS to ensure compliance with obligations, reduce risk, and prevent environmental occurrences.
  • Demonstrated experience in raising the capability of management and staff in applying environmental requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of environmental management plans.
  • Proven skills in undertaking assurance activities such as audits and inspections
  • Ability to gain insights (e.g., trend analysis) from occurrences and assurance activities.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills including capacity to effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritise and deliver work on schedule, whilst working on multiple tasks with competing priorities
