As a Project Assurance Specialist, you will lead independent assurance activities across a diverse portfolio of technology, infrastructure and transformational programs, ensuring projects are delivering value, managing risk and adhering to established governance frameworks.

Airservices Australia (Airservices) is a government-owned organisation providing safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible services to the aviation industry.
Each year we manage over four million aircraft movements carrying more than 156 million passengers and provide air navigation services across 11 per cent of the world’s airspace.
Airservices has two major operating centres in Melbourne and Brisbane and a corporate office in Canberra. We operate 29 air traffic towers at international and regional airports and provide aviation rescue firefighting services at 27 Australian airports.

Airservices and the aviation industry is undergoing a period of significant change. Our services, processes and systems will undergo transformational change over the next five to ten years to respond and, in some cases, lead these changes. The Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), within the Chief Operating Officer group, provides the capability required to support Airservices Transformation Portfolios and BAU functions deliver the programs and projects that form Airservices transformational change plan.
The EPMO is made up of the following streams: Portfolio, Program and Project Controls (P3 Controls); Reporting and Performance Analysis; and Standards and Capability Management.
The Role & The Team
The Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) plays a critical role in supporting the delivery of Airservices' transformational change agenda. Within the Portfolio, Program and Project Controls (P3 Controls) stream, the Assurance team provides independent oversight and assurance activities that help strengthen project and program outcomes across the organisation.
Reporting to the Assurance Team Lead, you will contribute to the development of assurance strategies and lead a range of assurance activities including project health checks, stage gate reviews, deep dives and performance assessments.
Working closely with Project Managers, Program Managers and senior stakeholders, you will provide valuable insights, identify areas for improvement and help ensure projects remain on track to achieve their intended outcomes.

In this role you will:
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of project and program assurance strategies.
- Monitor project and program performance indicators to identify emerging risks and assurance priorities.
- Lead project and program health checks, reviews and stage gate assessments.
- Facilitate assurance workshops and stakeholder reviews across a broad range of projects and programs.
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify issues, improvement opportunities and corrective actions.
- Prepare high-quality assurance reports and recommendations for project teams and stakeholders.
- Support the adoption of project and program management frameworks, methodologies and governance standards.
- Promote best practice assurance approaches through coaching, training and Communities of Practice.
- Build strong relationships with project teams, business leaders and framework owners across the enterprise.

The Person
- You are a collaborative and analytical professional with a passion for improving project and program performance. You bring strong assurance, audit or project governance experience and can confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels to provide constructive challenge and practical recommendations. The successful applicant will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in project and program assurance, independent review, internal audit or project governance environments.
- Experience working within complex delivery environments involving technology, infrastructure or systems engineering programs.
- Strong understanding of project and program management frameworks and methodologies such as PMBoK, Agile, MSP or equivalent.
- Experience undertaking project health checks, assurance reviews, gateway reviews or performance assessments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
- Experience preparing professional reports, recommendations and executive-level briefings.
- Professional certifications such as MSP, PMBoK, Internal Audit, Quality Assurance or related certifications will be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies including Lean, Six Sigma, PDCA or BPMN would be advantageous.
