The Role & The Team

Airservices Australia is seeking a Senior AIS Charting Specialist to coordinate the production and delivery of AIP, Operational and DAP charts, ensuring compliance with ICAO, CASA and Airservices standards. Reporting to the Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) Lead, you will provide technical leadership to the AIS Charting team, support regulatory compliance, manage stakeholder relationships, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that underpin aviation safety and operational excellence.

As part of the Aeronautical Information Services team, you'll work in a high-performing, safety-focused environment responsible for the accurate production and publication of aeronautical information that supports Australia's aviation industry.

Key responsibilities include:

- Coordinating chart production activities to meet quality, compliance and delivery targets.

- Providing technical guidance and support to team members.

- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding charting publications and change requests.

- Monitoring team performance, reporting on workloads and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

- Ensuring compliance with aviation regulations, safety requirements and quality standards.

The Person

To be successful, you will bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership capability and a strong commitment to quality and safety. You will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in Cartography (or a related discipline) and at least 3 years' industry experience.

- Advanced experience with CAD and GIS platforms, preferably MicroStation and ArcGIS.

- Experience working with ETL tools such as FME and scripting technologies including Python, ArcPy or SQL.

- Strong charting and mapping expertise, including knowledge of map projections.

- Exceptional attention to detail and proven ability to deliver accurate work under strict deadlines.

- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and issues to a range of stakeholders.

- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

- Experience coordinating work activities, leading small teams, coaching others and driving process improvements.

- Knowledge of aeronautical terminology, ideally equivalent to CASA Basic Aeronautical Knowledge (BAK) level.
