Summary

As a Technical Officer – ATM, you will work as part of a highly skilled team responsible for maintaining and supporting critical Air Traffic Management systems across the National Airways System. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work with complex and specialised technologies, contribute to essential infrastructure, and help ensure the safe, efficient and reliable delivery of air navigation services across Australia.

The Role & The Team

Reporting to the Field Maintenance Manager – ATM, you'll undertake maintenance and technical support activities across a range of complex and specialised air traffic management technologies. Working alongside Technical Leads and Senior Technical Officers, you'll contribute to the ongoing availability and performance of critical operational systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable professional who enjoys working in a safety-critical environment and is passionate about delivering reliable technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities on operational ATM systems.
  • Assist with software management and hardware modification activities.
  • Support technical investigations and fault resolution.
  • Participate in technology implementation and project activities.
  • Accurately record maintenance and technical data within maintenance management systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and work practices.
  • Collaborate with operational teams, technical specialists and stakeholders to support customer-focused outcomes.
  • Maintain compliance with Airservices safety, risk and governance requirements.

The Person

You are a proactive and safety-focused technical professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems and working with critical infrastructure. You take pride in delivering high-quality outcomes, can work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and are committed to maintaining the reliability and performance of operational systems. With strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset, you build productive relationships and contribute positively to a culture of safety, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Diploma of Technology (or equivalent qualification) in Radio Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience maintaining and supporting complex technical systems, ideally within a safety-critical or operational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and complete technical tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.  
  • Well-developed communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • A commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • A current Australian Driver's Licence.

Desirable

  • ACMA Data Cabling Licence.
  • Restricted Electrical Licence.
  • Experience working with airways systems, telecommunications, automation, networking or other critical operational technologies.
