The Role & The Team
As a Technical Officer (Band 2), you'll play a vital role in maintaining and supporting the communication, navigation and surveillance systems that underpin Australia's air traffic network. Working within a close-knit technical team and reporting to a Team Leader, you'll undertake preventative and corrective maintenance activities, support operational service delivery and help ensure the ongoing safety, availability and integrity of critical aviation infrastructure.
You'll collaborate with experienced technicians, technical authorities, air traffic control personnel and project teams while building your technical capability through structured training, mentoring and certification pathways. This is an opportunity to work on nationally significant systems while developing a long-term career in a highly specialised field.
The Person
You are a technically minded professional who enjoys hands-on work, problem solving and working within a safety-critical environment. You take pride in delivering quality outcomes, working collaboratively with others and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
The successful applicant will have:
- Hold or be working towards a Diploma of Technology (or equivalent qualification) in Radio Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Experience is not essential but favourable with performing maintenance, installation or support activities in telecommunications, electronics, electrical, information technology, aviation, defence, rail, utilities or similar technical environments.
- Ability to follow technical procedures and work safely within established frameworks and standards.
- Strong troubleshooting, fault-finding and analytical skills.
- Experience using maintenance management systems or digital asset management tools.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
- Australian Citizen
- ACMA Data Cabling Licence and/or Restricted Electrical Licence will be highly regarded.
