About the Role 

As an Emergency Vehicle Technician, you’ll take ownership of the maintenance and operational integrity of our ARFFS fleet at Western Sydney International Airport and support other ARFFS locations on an ad hoc basis.  You’ll be the go-to technical expert, ensuring our ARFF Operational assets including vehicles, boats, and equipment meet the highest standards of safety and performance. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Act as the primary technical contact for Western Sydney Airport. 

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of one or two maintenance workshops. 

  • Perform preventative, corrective, and scheduled maintenance on ARFFS assets. 

  • Execute and adapt maintenance schedules to meet operational needs. 

  • Contribute to local and regional improvement initiatives. 

  • Escalate and assist in resolving complex technical issues. 

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) e.g. MEX, SAP, etc. 

  • Travel to other locations as required to support maintenance activities.

What You’ll Bring 

  • A recognised trade certificate in heavy vehicles/diesel engines or relevant Australian Recognised Trade Certificate (ARTC) 

  • Able to obtain security clearance sufficient for holding an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) 

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to perform maintenance on heavy vehicles (emergency vehicles preferred) to a high standard  

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately diagnose routine and non-routine faults/failures using diagnostic skills.  

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and perform work with limited guidance, for cost effective outcomes, meeting maintenance key performance indicators.  

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise own work within the constraints of the scheduling process  

  • Demonstrated experience with the use of Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) (MEX experience preferred)  

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a small team at the same location  

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills 

  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills 

  • ArcTick Licence (desirable)  

  • Working at Heights, Confined Space, Rigging & Dogging, and CPR qualifications (preferred)
