Summary

We are seeking an experienced Airspace Designer to play a key role in the delivery of complex airspace design projects. In this role you will have the opportunity to showcase your expertise in operational procedures and design practices to lead and innovate safe and effective airspace design.

The Role & The Team

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Airspace Designer to lead and contribute to complex airspace design projects, implementing safe, efficient and environmentally considerate flight path design solutions to Australian aviation. This role requires a deep understanding of airspace structure, ATC operations, navigation procedures, and regulatory frameworks. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will provide technical leadership, ensure compliance with safety standards, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and efficient airspace solutions.

Key responsibilities:

- Identify, define, lead and support airspace design initiatives, with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring appropriate communication and organisational change management is in place when required

- Apply advanced technical knowledge to optimise airspace structure and performance by advising stakeholders on optimal airspace and flight path design solutions with consideration to ICAO manuals and guidelines

- Act as a safety specialist, ensuring all designs meet national safety requirements, whilst ensuring record systems, information systems and other records are managed efficiently and effectively, in accordance with established procedures

- Undertake specific research into ATS procedures, concepts and systems

- Contribute to the improvement of processes, systems and methods, including writing and updating procedures

You will form an integral part of the broader Network Performance & Standards team in a regulated, high-performing and accountable team; and continue to contribute towards delivering Airservices’ record of Safety, Environmental, WHS, Risk and Compliance excellence.

The Person

The successful applicant will have:

- Demonstrated ATC expertise in the Terminal or Enroute environment, or ICAO qualifications and experience in Instrument Flight Procedure Design

- Operation of technical design software and Office applications for development and sharing of design output

- Strong written skills with a proven track record of effectively and concisely communicating complex technical and operational concepts to all levels of the organisation

- Demonstrated ability to critically analyse diverse and dynamic information, drawing from experience to ensure benefit realisation within Airservices and to its customers

- Strong numerical skills able to be applied to aircraft performance and geographical design
