Summary

Are you the kind of person who is driven to identify and explore risk control improvements and safety system learnings? Would you like to investigate work systems and identify changes to improve compliance and business performance outcomes for our national air traffic control, firefighting and supporting groups? Are you ready to build and empower a high-performing Safety Risk and Assurance team?

We are seeking a Safety Risk and Assurance Lead to provide expert, proactive Safety Risk, Safety Investigation and Safety Assurance advice and application to Airservices business Groups.

In this influential position you will:

  • Develop and implement an integrated safety assurance program to deliver insights into the effectiveness of safety risk controls across operational and safety change domains.
  • Apply your expert leadership to ensure safety risk management and assurance policy, process and practices are aligned with Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) and aviation best practice.
  • Shape policies and tools that focus on risk control effectiveness and ensure ongoing assurance across all operational and corporate units.
  • Inform safety promotion activities to drive system risk improvements.
  • Create effective and influential relationships with stakeholders that drive value through enhanced risk control insights and improvements, and systems learning outcomes.
  • Build and inspire a high-performing, psychologically safe team, to champion safety risk and assurance outcomes and build business capability for Airservices.

The Role & The Team

Your strategic thinking, ability to influence your stakeholders, and proven track record in best practice safety risk and assurance program design and delivery will be essential to championing effective change and assurance improvement for Airservices.

You will bring a wealth of applied experience as a system safety/assurance specialist within a safety regulated industry, complemented by expertise in optimising investigation and learning outcomes in high-risk domains.

Working with stakeholders you will guide your team in the delivery of assurance programs that deliver risk control insights and build effectiveness of safety risk controls across operational and safety change domains.

Qualifications & Competencies:

The ideal candidate will ideally have at least 10 years applied experience as a system safety/assurance specialist within a safety regulated industry. Tertiary qualifications in system safety, operational hazard and risk management, engineering, or related field are preferred.
