Airservices Australia is seeking a visionary OneSKY Operations Director to drive the strategic transition to a harmonised civil-military air traffic management system.

The Role & The Team
OneSKY is a joint initiative with the Department of Defence to deliver the next-generation Civil-Military Air Traffic Management System (CMATS). This program is a cornerstone of national aviation transformation, integrating systems and modernising operations across civil and military domains.
As the OneSKY Operations Director, you will lead the strategic and operational transformation of Australia’s air traffic management system through the delivery of CMATS—a harmonised civil-military capability. This high-impact role involves overseeing transition readiness, driving organisational change, and ensuring safety and service continuity across Airservices and Defence. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, manage complex governance frameworks, and foster a high-performing team to deliver one of the nation’s most significant aviation programs.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the transition to CMATS and oversee sustainment program execution
- Establish governance frameworks and manage configuration controls
- Drive operational change and embed harmonised procedures
- Coordinate matrixed enterprise delivery (Change Management, EPMO, Communications)
- Engage senior stakeholders across Airservices, Defence, and suppliers
- Foster a high-performing, resilient workforce through inclusive leadership

The Person
You will be a seasoned senior leader with a proven track record in delivering complex, large-scale transformation programs within high-stakes environments. You will possess deep expertise in change management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic program delivery—particularly within aviation or similarly regulated sectors. With exceptional communication and influencing skills, you will have the ability to navigate complex governance structures and foster collaboration across civil and military domains. A forward-thinking mindset, resilience in the face of change, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement are essential to lead the successful transition to CMATS and shape the future of air traffic management in Australia.
The successful applicant will have:
- Proven senior leadership in complex program delivery
- Experience in large-scale transformation and change management
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Familiarity with Australian air traffic management environments
- Ability to lead in high-profile, high-demand settings
