Join Airservices Australia as an Engineering Specialist (Surveillance) and help support the critical technologies that keep Australia's skies safe. Working with advanced surveillance systems including RADAR, ADS-B, A-SMGCS and WAM, you will contribute to the performance, reliability and continuous improvement of systems that enable the safe and efficient management of air traffic across one of the world's largest airspaces.

The Role & The Team:

As an Engineering Specialist (Surveillance), you will be part of a highly skilled engineering team responsible for the technical management of surveillance assets supporting Air Traffic Management (ATM) services. You will provide engineering expertise across the asset lifecycle, contributing to system performance, reliability, configuration management and continuous improvement activities. You will support the integration, testing and deployment of system changes and upgrades, ensuring systems remain safe, effective and fit for purpose. Working closely with operational teams, project stakeholders, contractors and suppliers, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing Airservices' national surveillance capabilities while helping to deliver safe, reliable and efficient aviation services.

What you’ll do:

• Provide engineering expertise for the management of surveillance systems in accordance with Airservices’ Technology Management System (TMS).
• Investigate complex technical issues and support the development and integration of system improvements.
• Support the testing, integration and deployment of system upgrades and technology changes.
• Develop engineering reports, feasibility studies and technical recommendations.
• Participate in technology change control, configuration management and baseline integrity activities.
• Coordinate technical issue resolution with internal stakeholders, suppliers and contractors.
• Assist project teams to deliver against operational and technical requirements.
• Provide technical mentoring and support to engineering and technology staff.
• Contribute to safety, environmental, risk, compliance and governance initiatives.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance system performance and the overall service delivery process.

The Person:

The successful applicant will have:

• Strong systems engineering knowledge and experience supporting complex technology environments.
• Demonstrated understanding of Systems Engineering frameworks, processes and methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex technical issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated sound judgement and business acumen, with a focus on results in a service delivery environment.
• Experience building productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• The ability to provide technical mentoring, coaching and support to other engineering professionals.
• A commitment to safety, compliance, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The following qualifications are essential to be considered for this role:

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering.
• Eligibility for registration at Chartered level through a recognised professional body such as CPEng, NER, RPEng or RPEQ.
• Demonstrated experience working within a Systems Engineering environment.
• Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Baseline Security Clearance and Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
