The Role & The Team 

As a Telecommunications Rigger you will be part of a highly skilled technical team responsible for maintaining, installing and supporting telecommunications and airways infrastructure across Queensland and nationally.

You will undertake preventive and corrective maintenance activities, support operational communications systems, and ensure critical infrastructure remains safe, reliable and available. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the broader technical capability of the team through knowledge sharing and collaboration.

This position involves approximately 40% travel, primarily throughout Queensland, with occasional interstate travel to support national operational requirements. Travel allowance provisions apply.

What you’ll do

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with prescribed processes, procedures and standards.
• Install, maintain and support telecommunications infrastructure and associated equipment.
• Undertake rigging activities on telecommunications towers and aviation infrastructure.
• Ensure the operational safety, integrity and reliability of critical airways systems.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and data within enterprise maintenance management systems.
• Support system upgrades, installation activities and infrastructure improvement programs.
• Maintain awareness of the operational impact of maintenance activities on aviation services.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in service delivery and work practices.
• Support and coach other team members through knowledge sharing and on-the-job guidance.
• Participate in safety, environmental, risk, compliance and governance initiatives.
• Build effective working relationships with operational, engineering and technical stakeholders.

The Person

The successful applicant will have:  

• Experience maintaining and supporting telecommunications infrastructure, systems and equipment.
• Demonstrated rigging experience within telecommunications, aviation, utilities or related industries.
• The ability to work independently with limited supervision and technical guidance.
• Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Experience sharing technical knowledge and supporting the development of colleagues.
• A commitment to safety, compliance and operational excellence.
• The ability to build productive working relationships across technical and operational teams.

The following qualifications are essential to be considered for this role: 

• Current Australian Driver's Licence.
• Current Rigging Qualification.
• Advanced Rigging Qualification preferred; however, future training and cross-skilling opportunities will be available for the successful candidate.
• ACMA Data Cabling Licence.
• Current Dogging Qualification.
• Current Working at Heights Qualification.
• Current Tower Rescue Qualification.
• Relevant industry licensing where required for trade-qualified applicants.

Security Clearance

To be eligible, you must be an Australian citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence Baseline Security Clearance and Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
