The Role & The Team 

As a Senior Telecommunications Rigger (General Services Officer (Lines)), you will be part of a highly skilled technical team responsible for maintaining and supporting critical airways facilities and systems. You will undertake technical operations, maintenance, installation and integration activities while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and supporting the development of technical capability across the team.

You also play an important leadership function through coaching, mentoring and assessing the technical competencies of other technicians to ensure ongoing operational excellence and capability development.

This role requires travel for approximately 40% of the year, primarily throughout Queensland, with interstate travel required to support the national team and operational requirements. A travel allowance is provided.

What you’ll do

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with prescribed processes and procedures.
• Operate, maintain, install and integrate aviation systems and associated equipment.
• Ensure the operational safety and integrity of critical airways infrastructure.
• Maintain awareness of the impact technical activities have on operational services and systems.
• Lead and contribute to business improvement initiatives.
• Coach, mentor and develop technical staff within the workgroup.
• Support competency assessment and structured technical training activities.
• Participate in safety, environmental, risk, compliance and governance initiatives.
• Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and technical authorities.
• Support the delivery of reliable and efficient customer service outcomes.

The Person

The successful applicant will have:  

• Strong technical skills in the maintenance and support of complex systems and equipment.
• The ability to work independently with limited technical guidance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience coaching, mentoring and developing team members.
• A commitment to safety, compliance and operational excellence.
• The ability to build productive working relationships across technical and operational teams.

The following qualifications are essential to be considered for this role: 

• Current Australian Driver's Licence.
• Advanced Rigging Qualification preferred; however, future training and cross-skilling opportunities will be available for the successful candidate.
• ACMA Data Cabling Licence.
• Current Rigging Qualification.
• Current Dogging Qualification.
• Current Working at Heights Qualification.
• Current Tower Rescue Qualification.
• Relevant industry licensing where required for trade-qualified applicants.
