The Role & The Team

As an Information Security Specialist, you will provide expert advice on the classification, protection, and handling of security classified information. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring Airservices’ compliance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) information handling requirements and support the Chief Security Officer in maintaining a robust security posture, particularly with international vendors. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop and review Business Impact Levels and Security Classification Guides. 
• Assess and manage information risk, including arrangements with foreign-owned vendors and international partners. 
• Support cybersecurity specialists to assess security risk to information assets in support of the authorisation of systems. 
• Oversee the sanitisation, destruction, reclassification and declassification of classified information. 
• Provide specialist security advice across projects, including infrastructure and third-party engagements. 
• Represent Airservices in industry and government forums. 

The Person

Essential: 

• Australian citizenship and eligibility for ASIC and NV1 Security Clearance. 
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in protective security roles, ideally in aviation, government, or Defence. 
• Strong knowledge of the PSPF and a risk-based approach to security. 
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. 

Desirable: 

• Knowledge of the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) 
• Experience in security incident investigations and remediation planning and compensating controls. 
• Certificate IV in Security Risk Management or equivalent experience. 
• Project Management qualifications.
