The Role & The Team

This is more than a workshop-based maintenance role.

As an Emergency Vehicle Technician Band 4, you'll take ownership of the specialist emergency response fleet at one or more locations, ensuring our fire vehicles, rescue boats and operational equipment are ready to respond whenever they are needed. You'll lead local maintenance activities, diagnose complex faults, coordinate workshop operations and work closely with engineering and operational teams to keep critical assets performing at their best.

Whether your experience comes from emergency services, mining, transport, defence, waste management, utilities, heavy equipment or fleet maintenance, this role offers the opportunity to apply your skills to a unique and highly specialised fleet that directly supports frontline aviation safety.

You'll join a team that values technical expertise, autonomy, collaboration and continuous improvement, while offering the stability and purpose that comes with supporting nationally significant infrastructure.

The Person

The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience maintaining heavy vehicles, mobile plant, specialist fleet assets or emergency response vehicles.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability across mechanical, hydraulic or associated systems.
  • The ability to work autonomously while leading day-to-day maintenance activities and driving quality outcomes.
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), with MEX experience highly regarded.
  • Strong planning, organisation and communication skills, with a focus on safety and operational readiness.
  • A recognised trade qualification in heavy vehicles, diesel engines or a related mechanical trade.
