The Role & The Team
As an AIS Specialist Data /Airport Development Protection you will play a key role in collecting, processing and validating aeronautical data and information, managing this data within a central aeronautical database and geospatial environment, and assessing airport related and external development proposals that may impact aviation safety or Airservices operations.
Key responsibilities:
Aeronautical Data & Information:
- Manage and deliver aeronautical data from internal, external and government sources

Maintain obstacle and airspace data within a GIS (Geographic Information System) environment

Assess and implement database and IAIP (Integrated Aeronautical Information Package) updates

Ensure compliance with ICAO, ISO, CASA and Airservices standards

Deliver data products in line with AIRAC and IAIP cycles
Airspace & Airport Development Protection:
- Coordinate assessments of airport related developments and tall structures

Prepare consolidated Airservices responses to development proposals

Support Airport Master Plan and Major Development Plan assessments

Engage with stakeholders to provide advice on processes, documentation and data requirements

The Person
You are a detail-oriented aviation professional who thrives in a highly regulated, safety critical environment and enjoys working with complex data, diverse stakeholders, and evolving operational requirements. You bring strong technical skills, sound aviation knowledge, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining exceptional accuracy and compliance.
Essential skills and qualifications:

Tertiary qualification in aviation or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience

Minimum 2+ years’ experience in an aviation or aeronautical information role

Strong understanding of aeronautical terminology (equivalent to CASA Basic Aeronautical Knowledge)

Demonstrated high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Ability to work under pressure and meet strict regulatory deadlines

Strong written, verbal and numerical communication skills
Highly Desirable:
-
Working knowledge of PANSOPS
-
Knowledge or experience with CASR Parts 139, 173 and 175
-
Experience with ETL tools (e.g. FME)
-
Exposure to aerodrome safeguarding, obstacle management, or airspace protection
