The Role & The Team 

As a Technical Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining and supporting complex airways technologies to ensure the ongoing safety and integrity of Australia’s National Airways System. This hands-on role involves working across a range of specialised systems and processes, with day-to-day tasks guided by experienced Technical Leads and Senior Technical Officers. Reporting to an ATM Manager, your focus will always be on upholding the highest safety standards in support of safe and reliable air traffic operations.

What you’ll do

  • Carry out technical tasks such as maintenance, software support, hardware changes, investigations and project activities across various systems under general supervision.
  • Maintain an understanding of the operational impact of assigned tasks and take responsibility for specific functions or facilities within the maintenance team.
  • Actively identify opportunities for continuous improvement of service delivery and work practices.
  • Follow set priorities, use initiative for ad hoc tasks, and record work and safety issues accurately and on time in the required systems.

About you

The successful applicant will have:  

  • A Diploma of Technology in one or more of the following (or equivalent):
    • Radio engineering.
    • Communications engineering.
    • Electrical engineering.
    • Electronic engineering.
    • Computer science; or
    • Information technology
  • Demonstrated ability to work with limited technical guidance, preferably in the maintenance and/or support of the National Airways System and associated equipment
  • Apply your knowledge of equipment and rules to plan and complete tasks on your own, working efficiently and within budget.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders to deliver customer-focused results.
  • Must be able to achieve and maintain an Australian Government National Security Clearance at the required level.
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • ACMA Data Cabling Licence (Desirable).
  • Restricted Electrical Licence (Desirable).
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (Desirable).
