The Role & The Team
This exciting and cutting-edge position will play a key role in delivering the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) Traffic Management (UTM) program. It will provide specialist advice and expertise in support of program delivery including working on the Flight Information Management System (FIMS) project.
Supporting the UTM Program Manager, this role will assist the program by sharing expertise of domestic and international UTM and UAS development. This will involve contributing to strategy, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory standards with uncertain assurance and certification processes, and working closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Staying informed on domestic and international UAS developments and industry standards, the role will work closely with project teams to support the safe growth of the UAS industry in Australia.

The Person
As a domain and subject matter expert for the UTM program you will have excellent communication skills with the ability to relay complex information and concepts to a wide audience. You will have a demonstrated ability to work independently, able to support multiple projects with tight deadlines. In addition we are looking for;
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, aviation, computer science, or related field
- At least 3 years experience in UTM and/or complex UAS operations, with a working knowledge of applicable safety risk management, aviation regulation and airspace frameworks.
- A proven track record of leading projects through complex assurance pathways.
- Strong understanding of global UTM and UAS regulatory frameworks and relevant standards from international organisations such as ICAO, EASA, FAA, JARUS, ATSM and ISO.
- Familiarity with JARUS SORA, ATM regulations and/or ATC operations highly desirable
