The Role & The Team:

As a Senior Telecommunications Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the ongoing support, management and enhancement of Airservices’ mission‑critical telecommunications infrastructure. This includes satellite and microwave systems, long‑haul links, IP network components, and the broader communications backbone that enables safe air navigation and aviation rescue fire‑fighting operations across Australia.

You will lead investigations into system issues, deliver corrective actions, improve performance and reliability, and ensure compliance with CASA, ICAO and internal technical and safety standards. You’ll contribute to new system design, lead and review test plans, develop technical documentation, and provide professional engineering advice across the organisation.

The Network Services team is known for its strong technical capability and deep commitment to operational excellence. The Person:

You are a proactive telecommunications engineer who thrives in complex technical environments and is comfortable working under limited direction. You bring strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a deep commitment to safety and quality. You enjoy solving technical problems, improving systems, and working collaboratively with engineers, technicians, project teams and external vendors.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex telecommunications systems, including satellite, microwave, or IP networks
  • Strong capability in systems engineering, including change control, requirements analysis, and lifecycle documentation
  • Ability to analyse performance, troubleshoot system defects, and implement corrective actions in safety‑critical environments
  • Practical experience preparing and reviewing specifications, test plans, procedures and technical documentation
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations and project stakeholders
  • Sound judgement, problem‑solving skills and the ability to work with autonomy in high‑responsibility environments
