About the Role
We are looking for two Senior Engineering Specialists to join our high‑performing technology platforms within the Chief Technology Enablement Office (CTEO). In these roles, you will help sustain, operate and enhance the critical communication and surveillance systems that support the National Airways System (NAS). Each position will contribute specialist expertise to different projects within the Enterprise Network Modernisation Platform (ENMP), working across complex technology environments to ensure safe, reliable and efficient system performance. You will be part of teams recognised for technical excellence, strong ownership and a collaborative, high‑performance culture.
As a Senior Engineering Specialist, you will contribute your expertise across communication and/or surveillance technologies—ranging from voice switching and aerodrome communication systems. You will ensure these systems operate within strict technical and safety standards, support upgrades and performance improvements, and play a key role in integrating change across the network.
You will also work on the national rollout of the new ADS‑B system, focusing exclusively on cutting‑edge ADS‑B technology, with full training provided as part of the role.
You will work closely with engineers, technical officers, system advisors, Air Traffic Control, Network Coordination, ARFF, operations, project teams, asset strategy and external suppliers to maintain system reliability and continuously improve capability across the NAS.
What you’ll Do
- Support projects by ensuring technical requirements are understood, implemented and validated through all stages of delivery.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, providing engineered solutions that enhance system performance and reliability.
- Carry out systems engineering activities, including designing, developing and integrating technical solutions that meet operational and safety requirements.
- Prepare, review and execute test plans to support system changes, upgrades and software deployments.
- Monitor system and maintenance performance, identify trends, and recommend improvements to optimise reliability, efficiency and lifecycle management.
- Produce clear engineering documentation, including reports, feasibility studies, requirements, proposals and cost estimates.
- Manage system configurations and changes to maintain technical integrity and compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Contribute to a strong safety culture by identifying risks and ensuring all engineering activities meet required safety obligations.

About You
As this is a Senior role, we typically require 5–7 years of relevant engineering experience. You are a proactive, technically strong engineering professional with the ability to work across complex, distributed systems in a safety critical environment.
You communicate clearly, collaborate effectively across teams, and exercise sound judgement when solving engineering challenges.
Mandatory Qualifications
Tertiary engineering qualification; eligibility for chartered recognition (e.g., CPEng, RPEQ, NER); experience with large-scale distributed or safety‑critical systems; strong systems engineering capability; supplier and contractor engagement experience; strong documentation and communication skills.
