The Role & The Team
As the Aerodrome Senior Engineering Specialist, the successful applicant will support the
- operation and maintenance of assets that are critical to the delivery of Air Navigation Services (ANS) and Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) to industry.
- successful delivery of the Aerodrome tower systems and the integration of such systems with Very High Frequency (VHF) Automatic Dependent Broadcast System (ADS-B); ADIN Networks being delivered by the Enterprise Network Modernisation Program (ENMP).
- technical components of the project by implementing the appropriate Airservices engineering processes, frameworks and policies and governance standards to ensure the successful management of technical scope.
This is a unique opportunity to directly contribute to enhancing safety and service delivery to the aviation industry. You will initially be working as the overarching Ballina (NSW) Enhanced Services Program - Project Technical Lead (PTL) in conjunction with the Enterprise Network Modernisation Program PTL. PTL is a key role within any program and provides technical leadership and system engineering oversight to ensure that Airservices requirements are defined and met. Work on other aerodrome solutions may be included in future.
Key responsibilities include:
- providing technical and operational guidance and direction to support the project team.
- the technical readiness of operational systems.
- providing advice to support project decision making.
- dependency identification, reporting, and management.
- stakeholder engagement to determine operational and technical requirements.
- the development of technical and operational project artefacts.
- a clear understanding of processes and procedures to support planning and estimating other requirements as defined by the Enterprise Asset Management Framework (EAMF), Technical Management System (TMS) and Safety Management System (SMS).

The Person
The successful applicant will have:
- Completed a tertiary qualification in Engineering and be eligible for Registration as a Professional Engineer in relevant area of engineering in accordance with relevant legislation e.g. Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ).
- Significant experience with the application of Systems Engineering processes to unique and complex systems across multiple industries.
- Experience with engaging with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated values-based behaviours, and ability to support organisational capability and culture.
- Excellent oral and communications skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Previous experience with the application of aviation Safety Management Systems (desirable).
- Sound understanding of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations Part 171 and Part 172 (desirable).
