As an Aviation Rescue Fire Fighter Recruit you will receive comprehensive training from our Registered Training Organisation (RTO 5168) based in Melbourne. Upon successful completion of training, a nationally recognised qualification will be awarded in the form of a PUA20622 Certificate II in Public Safety (Fire Fighting and Emergency Operations). Training is delivered via a combination of classroom based and practical training, you will be required to reside in Melbourne for 15 weeks and provided with accommodation. Once you have successfully completed the training course you will relocate to your confirmed location.

As the physical testing is one of the hardest and biggest hurdles to overcome in the recruitment process, and is in place to ensure you can safely meet the physical demands of the role of an Aviation Rescue Fire Fighter we have included a copy of the current Physical Aptitude Test in order to assist with your training.

About you

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for candidates from diverse backgrounds, who are interested in joining a highly trained workforce. 

As an Aviation Rescue Fire Fighter, you would be using specialist rescue and firefighting equipment, constantly maintaining your fitness for duty and thrive on working as part of a team. You are not required to have Firefighting experience to become an Aviation Rescue Fire Fighter but you will need to have an advanced level of physical fitness.

Minimum requirements to apply

To be become an Aviation Rescue Fire Fighter, you must be able to meet the requirements as specified below:

  • 18 years of age or above
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen, or an Australian Permanent Resident.
  • Have a current unrestricted full manual driver’s licence and the ability to gain a heavy rigid license at least four weeks prior to commencement
  • Hold either a year 10 or Year 12 Certificate plus a minimum of two years full time equivalent experience (can be combination of paid work, volunteer work, professional or elite sports experience or representation) * or Bachelors/Masters
