Airservices is a government owned organisation providing safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible Air Navigation and Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting Services to the aviation industry.

As Senior Environmental Specialist within the Environmental Systems and Assurance team (ESA), you will play a key role in enabling Airservices to meet its environmental compliance and performance objectives in the delivery of its core aviation services.
You will achieve this through the provision of technical and specialist environmental management advice and by taking a leading role in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of Airservices EMS.
The diverse work scope will enable you to expand your skillset in multiple professional domains including the management of strategic improvement programs, drafting of compliance and governance mechanisms (including standards and procedures) provision of assurance activities (including audits), and development of business capability (including delivery of training and awareness programs).
You will play a leading role in the ESA Team, closely supporting the Environmental Systems and Assurance Manager to deliver the business objectives of the Safety and Assurance Group, and Airservices’ Corporate commitments.
To be successful in this role you will be highly practical, with demonstrated experience in managing a diverse range of contemporary environmental issues (such as land and water pollution, erosion and sedimentation, noise management and habitat protection).
You will be able to work autonomously and show a high degree of initiative and innovation in identifying environmental management issues and leading associated EMS improvements.
You will also be an effective team player and communicator, with a professional yet highly personable approach to establishing collaborate and productive working relationships with your team and stakeholders.
The ESA team comprises five Environmental Specialists split between Canberra and Melbourne. We have a highly positive and collaborative team culture, working closely with Airservices business groups to address challenges and implement fit for purpose EMS solutions.

Skills and Experience
- A Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Law or a related discipline.
- Significant demonstrated experience in managing contemporary environmental issues and leading strategic environmental improvement programs
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing environmental legal compliance and assurance programs (such as audits).
- Proven experience in developing and implementing fit for purpose ISO14001 certified (or aligned) environmental management systems (including drafting standards and procedures)
- Demonstrated initiative and autonomous working abilities; with proven skills in establishing and maintaining effective teams.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills, including experience providing technical advice, and a strong capacity to communicate with influence to diverse stakeholders.
