 The Role & The Team

In this role, you will play a key part in enabling leaders and workers across Airservices to effectively manage health and safety risks and meet compliance obligations in a safety-critical environment. You’ll contribute to the broader WHS program of work by supporting the WHS and Human Performance Team and driving initiatives that enhance safety outcomes. Your influence will extend across business functions, helping to coordinate and embed Work Health and Safety initiatives that foster a proactive safety culture.

Working within the WHS and Human Performance Team, the ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with the ability to guide and influence stakeholders at all levels. You’ll bring strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external partners combined with well-developed negotiation and interpersonal skills, will be essential in delivering meaningful safety improvements across the organisation.

About you

The successful applicant will have:

  • Qualifications in Work Health and Safety (Certificate IV or above)
  • Exposure to or experience in Work Health and Safety in an operational environment
  • Exposure to Emergency Planning requirements (desirable)
  • Demonstrated positive learning attitude with a commitment to continuing development
  • The ability to gain and further develop technical skills and knowledge in work health and safety
  • Strong communication capabilities, including ability to: (i) persuade, influence and discuss professional matters with stakeholders; (ii) present information in a clear, concise and structured manner; (iii) collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong planning and organising skills, including ability to: (i) plan activities in advance and take account of possible changing circumstances; (ii) manage time effectively; and (iii) monitor performance against deadlines and milestones
  • Knowledge of Commonwealth legislative frameworks

This role performs Safety Sensitive Aviation Activities (SSAA) and as such is subject to Airservices Australia's Drug and Alcohol Management Procedure (DAMP).
