The Role and the Team

As Safety Communications Specialist, you will lead the development and delivery of safety promotion, education, and awareness programs targeted at Airservices’ customers, industry partners, and others within aviation. This is a job share position, focusing on external audiences, while your counterpart (0.4 FTE) manages internal safety communications.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across Safety, Service Delivery, Customer Engagement, and Communications teams, as well as external stakeholders like the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). Together, you’ll design and execute initiatives that strengthen safety culture and outcomes across the aviation sector.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute a safety promotion, education, and awareness strategy for customers.
  • Work collaboratively with our safety specialists and communications teams to deliver relevant and timely information to your key audiences.
  • Design and deliver engaging campaigns and content across multiple platforms.
  • Maintain safety materials on the Airservices corporate website.
  • Coordinate safety-related forums and events.
  • Measure and report on campaign performance and impact.
  • Collaborate with CASA and other agencies to maximise reach and effectiveness.
  • Mentor colleagues contributing to industry safety engagement.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Proven ability to develop and execute communication strategies that engage and grow audiences.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of meeting deadlines and milestones.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including presentation capability.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and networks internally and externally.
  • Skilled at influencing and gaining commitment from senior stakeholders.
  • A flexible, team-oriented approach with a willingness to step in and get things done.
