The Role & The Team:
As the Senior Security Risk Specialist, you will be part of a team of security professionals who contribute to the security management for Airservices assets and sites, including conducting security risk and threat assessments, certification and accreditation of physical security zones and security incident management. Additionally, you will be required to provide timely and accurate security advice and develop practical and achievable solutions to ensure Airservices meets its Commonwealth protective security function and obligations.
You will be required to provide advice to Airservices staff on all aspects of protective security and be prepared to support the regionally based Facilities Security Officers, and commercially contracted security staff who are engaged by the Enterprise Shared Services.
Reporting to the Head of Security & Resilience, your responsibilities shall include:
- Advise and implement security arrangements for Airservices.
- Provide security threat and risk assessments.
- Ensure Airservices maintains compliance with the Transport Security Program
- Participate in certification and accreditation of security zones in accordance with government requirements.
- Assist with the development strategies to ensure successful implementation of the Protective Security Policy Framework
- Provide security representation on project teams and engage with internal and external security stakeholders, including security contractors and facilities design teams.
- Provide security advice and support to the national Facilities Security Officer network.
- Assist with or conduct investigations of security incidents.
- Develop security business continuity plans.
- Provide expert advice to infrastructure project teams in relation to security requirements, including undertaking assurance activity, the production and/or review of security design briefs, in line with the standards defined in Australian Government physical security requirements documents.

The Person:
To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive self-starter and have extensive industry experience with relevant security qualifications.
It is essential you possess significant protective security experience and have the ability to manage relationships and represent Airservices to a variety of internal and external aviation and security stakeholders. You will require a comprehensive understanding of the Protective Security Policy Framework, and how it is applied within government and other organisations. Experience in the application of Certification and Accreditation of security zoned spaces would also be desirable.
The successful applicant will have:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a security operations and risk management role, with a proven record in the delivery of protective security services, especially in an aviation, critical infrastructure, project management or government context.
- Demonstrable experience in the Certification and Accreditation process of security zones that comply with the PSPF and other relevant government policy.
- Strong influencing, stakeholder management experience.
- Certificate IV in Security Risk Management or equivalent.
- Experience (at least 5 years) delivering outcomes in protective security projects, including major infrastructure projects or a Certificate IV in Project Management.
- Experience in security investigations. Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent (Desirable)
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced competency skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365).
- Delivery of Australian Government security awareness programs.
