The Role & The Team
As Engineering Specialist working on the Aerodrome Platform technology of IT systems, you will be responsible for the technical implementation, sustainment and enhancements of operational software-based airways systems, ensuring the systems meet its agreed technical performance requirements and continues to provide services to industry. You will be responsible for providing input into the technical planning, design, development and verification of complex lifecycle balanced systems and solutions within the NAS. This includes participating and contributing to the functional and performance requirements and technical engineering activities within projects, delivering new and state of the art systems for the provision and support of Air Traffic Control Services.

The Person
To be successful in this role you will be an active and collaborative team member. You will engage with a range of stakeholders across the wider Airservices business using your experience in a complex project environment. With your well-developed interpersonal and communication skills as well as resilience and adaptability to operate effectively in a changing environment you will develop your career and relish being a part of the Engineering team.
Skills and Experience
As an Engineering Specialist you will ideally have:
- A degree in an appropriate Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or Information Technology degree from an Australian tertiary institution or certified equivalent qualification
- An understanding of and demonstrated experience applying Systems Engineering practices throughout the SDLC and system management processes
- Experience in the design, development, testing and implementation of robust and reliable software systems - this includes the over-arching aspects of quality assurance and configuration management.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder and vendor management.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and work as a member of a dynamic team, including ability to work under limited direction to achieve positive outcomes.
- Strong documentation skills with experience in preparing and reviewing solution architecture documents and system design documents, including alignment to strategies and existing initiatives.
- Awareness of Information Security Manual (ISM) and demonstrated experience in adhering to ISM principles and applying ISM controls highly desirable.
- Experience in designing, maintaining and supporting technology systems is highly desirable, in particular:
- N-tier architectures and distributed systems
- Real-time systems
- Message handling
- Internet technologies
