 The Role & The Team

As the Regulatory Specialist in the Government Relations, Regulatory and International Engagement team, you will fulfil a critical role. You will be expected to demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of Australia’s aviation regulatory environment and lead regulatory advice and reform, including on emerging aviation technologies.

You will be working closely with Australian Government agencies including the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to help shape the regulatory environment for exciting new aviation services being driven by technology, including drone operations and Electronic Vertical Take-Off and Landing (EVTOL) vehicles. Part of your charter is to represent Airservices externally with industry and other government stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you will need to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels, build partnerships across business areas, respond easily to changing work demands and circumstances and develop creative and innovative solutions to resolve issues. The Person

The successful applicant will have:

  • 5 - 10 years’ experience working in regulatory, policy or legal positions within government
  • Highly-developed written and presentation skills, experience in preparing regulatory advice and briefing
  • Highly-developed negotiating/influencing skills
  • Proven skills in developing and maintaining constructive, trust-based relationships with government stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to analyse key technical information and develop regulatory proposals or policy positions to enhance interests of Airservices Australia

Security Clearance 

 To be eligible to apply, you must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident as an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance is required for this role. Please refer to the security check requirements successful applicants will be required to undertake as part of the recruitment process.
