The person we are looking to join us in this central internal communications role will play a key part to evolve our enterprise processes, practices, channels and content to:

No two days are the same in this internal communications role and you have a true passion for every part from producing engaging content to listening to your stakeholders and adding value and top class experiences

In context of Airservices’ holistic transformation program you will work closely with our senior leaders and diverse stakeholders across our equally diverse business groups. You will advise, develop and implement effective strategic communication strategies, plans and collateral that drive team alignment and engagement.

The Organisation

Airservices is a government owned organisation providing safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible services to the aviation industry.

Each year we manage over four million aircraft movements carrying more than 156 million passengers, and provide air navigation services across 11 per cent of the world’s airspace.

Airservices has two major operating centres in Melbourne and Brisbane and a corporate office in Canberra. We operate 29 air traffic towers at international and regional airports, and provide aviation rescue fire-fighting services at 26 Australian airports.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications the successful candidate for this role will co-create, deliver and evolve a centralised internal communications strategy, with a focus on people and culture, and leadership communications in support of Airservices’ strategic goals. With your intuitive employee experience hat on, you will manage, streamline and innovate to improve internal communication processes, channels, advise leaders and develop engaging content for multiple channels.

The Person

You will be well regarded by those you’ve worked with for scaling up to new roles and tasks quickly and effectively, staying calm under pressure and providing expert advice and efficient execution in equal measure.

You will be a professional who is equally comfortable collaborating with communication team members and other business partners, as you are working autonomously to advise and support business stakeholders at all levels. You will comfortably navigate and bridge seamlessly and sensitively between central and business group stakeholders, as well as our dynamic project teams.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will have:

  • Minimum five years’ experience working in communications, including internal communications (where ideally your true passion lies, or is your chosen focus for the next chapter of your career)
  • Demonstrated capability to build trusted relationships across organisations and diverse stakeholders to deliver results in support of strategic priorities and outcomes
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and adapt on the fly to manage multiple demands, stakeholders and deadlines
  • Flair creating written content and creating and /or briefing in visual collateral across range of digital and print channels (video, posters, EDM etc) that effectively engage our diverse teams
  • Ease and proficiency advising, contributing to and championing internal social collaboration channels.


Experience with Workplace and SharePoint will be considered an advantage.
