The Organisation 

Airservices is a government owned organisation providing safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible services to the aviation industry. Each year we manage over four million aircraft movements carrying more than 156 million passengers, and provide air navigation services across 11 per cent of the world’s airspace. 

 

The Role and The Team 

As Head of Security & Resilience you will lead the implementation of a complex program of uplift and improvements across the full breadth of the business to strengthen, enhance, and embed security and resilience outcomes.  

Key accountabilities include: 

  • Lead the development of the Security and Resilience Strategies, Frameworks and Systems ensuring sustainable enterprise-wide security and resilience functions, policies, processes and tools that support and embed the Board's risk appetite
  • Ensure compliance with PSPF, other Government policy and aviation security regulations
  • Act as a Centre of Excellence and “domain thought leader” supporting our strategic agenda and embedding a ‘by design’ approach to Security and Resilience
  • Lead the development and implementation of business contingency and continuity capability that addresses a broad range of complex operational and corporate threats
  • Provide strategic oversight of all elements of security to assist the continuous delivery of business operations. 

The Security & Resilience team is a close-knit group of professionals who work with and provide support across all areas of the business. The team also enjoys the opportunity to engage and collaborate with key external government and industry stakeholders.

The Person 

To be successful in this role you will have a passion for the continuous improvement of security outcomes, formal qualifications in a security related discipline, and demonstrated experience in delivering complex programs of work in an aviation security, critical infrastructure or government context. 

You will understand risk management and be a thoughtful steward of risk and opportunity. It is essential you have the ability to manage relationships and represent Airservices to a variety of internal and external aviation and government stakeholders both domestic and international. 

You must be an excellent communicator with highly honed advocacy and persuasion skills. You will be a coach and mentor for your geographically dispersed staff.

 

Essential requirements

Essential requirements include: 

  • Australian citizen
  • Tertiary or relevant industry qualifications in a security related discipline 
  • Demonstrated experience in a personnel security, physical security, aviation security or business continuity related role 

 

Security Clearance 

You will be required to hold or have the ability to gain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).

An Australian Government Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance eligibility is required for this role.
