By working as part of the Airservices safety team you will learn from the best and work on exciting programs that are pushing the boundaries of aerospace, construction and national infrastructure.  This role as a Work Health and Safety (WHS) Specialist in Enterprise Network Modernisation Program Team (ENMP), you will have a key role to play in delivering positive WHS outcomes through leading the development and implementation of a program-specific WHS strategy and management plan.

ENMP is one of 2 Airservices "Mega-programs" that are replacing our systems and communications networks across Australia. The works include significant field installation activities in remote locations as well as high tech work in our city centres. The delivery of the future capability will be done by a Managed Service Provider (MSP). Your role will be to work on the "client side" and ensure that the ENMP safety program meets all WHS requirements through oversight and assurance activities to the Managed Service Provider (MSP) who will be developing a full WHS program. The role would suit a great communicator with significant experience at the practical application of WHS in a technical/ large program environment. Although the role being filled is for a 1 year contract we are likely to retain the right candidate for longer given the many significant programs that are in the Airservices pipeline.

Skills and Experience


    • Essential: Recognised qualification in Work Health and Safety / Occupational Health and Safety (Diploma - Level 5 under the Australian Qualifications Framework or equivalent) or equivalent proven experience as a WHS professional.
    • Essential: Demonstrated experience in undertaking and/or providing support and guidance to others on WHS risk management activities for projects and/or other contracted works in technology, infrastructure and/or construction fields.
    • Essential: Proven track-record in the practical application of WHS legislation, codes of practice and standards in the context of projects or contracted works.
    • Essential: Demonstrated highly effective communication skills including working collaboratively as part of a small team, influencing decision makers through effective negotiation, facilitation, advice, education and training, and resolution of decisions in both written and verbal form.
    • Essential: Demonstrated sound analytical and conceptual skills to apply complex information to the context of Airservices with demonstrated ability to problem solve and develop solutions with specialists and consultants.
    • Desirable: An understanding of the practical application of Commonwealth WHS legislation in contracted work situations.

Security Clearance

  • To be eligible to apply, you must be an Australian citizen as an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance is required for this role.
