The Organisation

Airservices is a government-owned organisation providing safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible air navigation and aviation rescue fire-fighting services to the aviation industry.

The Air Navigation Services (ANS) Group is responsible for Australia’s airspace management, aeronautical information, aviation communications, and radio navigation aids services.

Airservices has two major operating centres at Melbourne and Brisbane airports and a corporate office in Canberra. We operate 29 air traffic control towers at international and regional airports, and provide aviation rescue fire fighting services at 26 Australian airports.

The Role

The Portfolio Management Office Unit has responsibility for the development and governance of the ANS Portfolio Investment Plan and Portfolio Delivery Plan, as well as the implementation and adherence to the P3M Framework.  This includes ensuring governance compliance of the resultant projects and programs once they are initiated.

As the Portfolio Governance and Reporting Specialist you will work with the Portfolio Project Delivery manager to schedule and conduct required project governance activities.  You will also support reporting on project delivery progress and project governance outcomes, to the Portfolio Progress Group (PPG) on a monthly basis.

You will also provide support to the development and maintenance of key portfolio level documentation such as the annual Portfolio Delivery Plan and annual Portfolio Work Plan.

The Person

The role offers a high level of variety and requires a person who has:

  • demonstrated experience in the practical application of P3M for Project Governance and Assurance, within a government owned critical infrastructure service delivery organisation like Airservices.
  • a strong appreciation of the need to be responsive to stakeholder expectations, and is able to manage changing priorities and demands with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • demonstrated ability to analyse complex information, distil into simple form and then present and communicate to a range of portfolio senior management, as required.
  • a high level of interpersonal and communications skills to establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff in related stakeholder groups within Airservices.

You will also have a demonstrated ability to work and perform in a complex and changing environment.

  • demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build rapport and confidence with stakeholders at all levels.
  • have well-developed writing & presentation skills, with an aptitude to learn and research.
  • work and perform autonomously in a complex and changing environment.
  • have demonstrated Microsoft Office skills - Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • demonstrate initiative in identifying areas for improvement in processes as well as analysing, making recommendations and implementing changes.
