As a Senior Instrument Flight Procedure (IFP) Designer within the Operational Standards Unit you will assist the Flight Path Design Manager to ensure the provision of instrument flight path development, implementation and maintenance services in support of safe, efficient and environmentally responsible Air Navigation Services (ANS). Work will be managed and delivered in compliance with ICAO, CASA and Airservices technical and safety standards.
You are an integral part of the Operational Standards Unit in a regulated high-performing and accountable team; and continue to contribute towards delivering Airservices’ record of Safety, Environmental, WHS, and regulatory compliance excellence.
The ideal candidate will possess a high level of IFP design expertise and experience, across both conventional and satellite-based ICAO Doc 8168 design principles, supplemented by extensive professional experience within the aviation industry, perhaps gained during a former career as a Safety Regulator, Air Traffic Control Officer or Commercial pilot.
The person in this role will have good personable skills, be well presented, courteous and respectful in their dealings with other staff, internal and external stakeholders.
Candidates must have the right to reside and work in Australia and be eligible for issuance of Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) with airside access.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will have:
- Relevant qualifications and experience in IFP design in accordance with ICAO Doc 8168 – PANS-OPS. The qualifications and experience must meet the requirements of CASA MOS 173, 3.1.2
- Advanced knowledge of CASA rules and ICAO SARP relevant to IFP design and publication
- A good understanding of the principles of operation of modern ground, airborne and space based navigation systems and their use in instrument flight operations
- Demonstrated ability to deliver work on time and on budget
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to lead others
- Experience with CAD software is desirable, preferably Bentley Microstation
- Experience with dedicated IFP design software is advantageous
