Airservices is a government owned organisation providing safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible services to the aviation industry. Each year we manage over four million aircraft movements carrying more than 140 million passengers, and provide air navigation services across 11 per cent of the world’s airspace. Airservices has two major operating centres in Melbourne and Brisbane and a corporate office in Canberra. We operate 29 air traffic control towers at international and regional airports, and provide aviation rescue fire fighting services at 26 Australian airports.
The OneSKY Australia Program is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of Airservices next generation services including the future civil-military air traffic management system (CMATS) through the Program – a joint activity with the Department of Defence. The program is enabling the fundamental organisational and industry transformation required to maximise the benefits and value of the future system as expected by Airservices and Defence customers and stakeholders.
The Legal Counsel will report to the Commercial and Legal Manager and work as part of a joint team combining Airservices and Department of Defence personnel. Deliver pragmatic legal advice and support on all aspects of the OneSKY Program.
Leading the identification, management and resolution of legal issues and risks, you will liaise with project teams and the probity and commercial functions to ensure the OneSKY Program remains in compliance with the law and commercial obligations. You will be responsible for accurate preparation and negotiation of a variety of contracts and procurement activities.
This role will be offered on a five year fixed term engagement.
Skills & Experience:
- Legal qualifications with supporting experience in commercial law and/or government procurement
- Admitted as an Australian Legal Practitioner with current practising certificate (or the ability to obtain a practising certificate on commencement).
- Proven ability to advise on and manage large-scale procurement activities within a complex commercial environment
- Strong legal, research and analytical skills
- Experience in construction law and contract management (desirable)
- Must be an Australian Citizen with a Baseline Clearance (PROTECTED or ability to obtain)
